MY NAME IS AUREA…

Coming from a vibrant and electric Puerto Rican background, Aurea Gonzalez was born and raised in the Bronx, New York. She calls herself the JLo of her generation, having multifaceted talents and passions, sass and the determination to not be boxed in by anyone or anything. She grew a passion for arts at an early age, writing poetry, and could usually be found either writing in a note book or singing and dancing in the center of a room. Her love for Acting developed at the age 8, after a school project gave her a first hand view of what goes into making a film, in which she was cast as the lead. Though she had a challenging childhood--first being in foster care, while later becoming adopted--Aurea was able to overcome these emotional moments by delving into small projects at an early age and diving deeper into trauma as an adult. Her go-getter attitude pushed her to be a part of many short films, student projects, and theatre productions. She ventured into modeling while in her Sophomore Year in high school, and explored it more in-depth after her first year at Fairleigh Dickinson University, where she also began dancing again. After her first year of college, Aurea took a short hiatus to pursue other interests. In 2011, she returned to modeling and began working as a freelance artist.

On social media, she became known as AUREA G or DEFINITIONDESIRE, her brand growing from a standpoint of "lust", where she owned her sensuality and sexuality, growing confident that this wasn't a side of her that needed to be hidden. Aurea takes pride in being a free spirit, defying normalcy, and not living by society's standards, hoping to inspire all women to do the same. DEFINITIONDESIRE may have derived from glamour and sensual imagery, but for Aurea G it means so much more. It is the drive that forces her to keep chasing the dream and be healthy in all ways possible. The desire to have anything and claim it.

Aurea G has been a huge advocate for mental health awareness, having been challenged with depression and anxiety throughout her whole life, and recently borderline personality disorder. She was heavily involved in writing several articles, creating dance pieces, and sparking a large integrated marketing campaign around depression and anxiety in college students and within herself. She continues to be transparent about her mental health journey and develops pieces every now and then while vocalizing her journey via social media and through her publications.

In 2013, Aurea decided to go back to school, and 2 years later graduated with honors from the City College of New York in with a Bachelor of Arts in Communications, having majored in Advertising and Public Relations and double minoring in Theatre and Journalism. She's utilized her education and personal experience to figure out how to market herself as an artist, and still continues to blossom. Throughout her recent years, she has published several articles, winning a finalist Mark of Excellence Award from the Society of Professional Journalists in 2015 and has gone onto pursuing a variety of personal and professional passions.

She is currently working as the Creative Director of her own art full-time, ranging from film projects, modeling, music and diving into new mediums of art, proving she can be brilliant utilizing both her beauty and her brains. She aspires to grow professionally as an artist, diving into all sorts of creative projects, and eventually open her own Artist Management Company helping other artists like herself flourish into the best versions of themselves. In August 2020, she released her very first single, Mejor, produced by Jassiel McBride, as well as her music video which she produced and directed. She’s excited to branch out into other areas of Entertainment, continuing to prove she is a force to be reckoned with.
